Dr. Madhupriya Sundaram
Dr. R.G.S. Madhupriya, a Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology associated with the Integrated Cancer Care Group(ICCG), obtained her MBBS from Annamalai University and worked as a registrar in the Department of General Surgery and Surgical ICU at CMC Vellore. She completed her M.S. in General Surgery from Rajah Muthaiah Medical College, Tamil Nadu. She kickstarted her career at Cancer Institute (WIA) Adyar, Tamil Nadu, as a senior registrar in the Department of Surgical Oncology, where she secured her M.Ch. Surgical Oncology. Following this, she acquired her certification from the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Madhupriya pursued her clinical attachment in Breast Oncoplastic at NHS Doncaster UK under the guidance of Professor Lynda Wyld. She also conducted her clinical attachment in Gynaec Oncology at Pan Birmingham Gynecological Cancer Centre, University of Birmingham, UK.
Dr. Madhupriya undertook her IACA Fellowship in Gynaec Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Buffalo, USA, in 2019. She later continued as a Faculty at the Cancer Institute in the Department of Surgical Oncology, and until 2021, she concentrated on Breast and Gynaec Oncology and Uro Oncology. Furthermore, she pursued a Basic Course in Biomedical Research and Certification in Pain and Palliative care in Oncology from Cancer Institute (WIA) Adyar. Her spheres of interest encompass Gynaec Oncology, HIPEC, Breast Oncology, Oncoplastic, Minimal Invasive Surgery in Gynaec Oncology, and Uro Oncology.
Awards
- In 2007, she received a Gold Medal at the Academy of Medical Sciences for her presentation on A Rare Infection in Filarial Lymphedema.
- She undertook Translation and Validation of the LARS scoring system in two different Indian Languages, including Tamil and Telugu.
- She presented on the impact of sphincter-sparing surgery for rectal cancer on bowel function and quality of life during the Gold Medal Session at NATCON 2016.
